Kiln or Killed?
Kiln or Killed?
Setback
Montag, 30. März 2009
I recently received a kiln as a gift, in this myriad of ways God has been providing for our shop. I was so excited to pick it up. It needed a repair, but looked good for us to use it.
While moving the kiln back to Cologne on Saturday, we hit a bit of a setback. A stone shelf on the bottom was not taken out prior to moving and when we tipped on its side to go into the van, the shelf fell over and broke many parts inside. The kiln was used, as you can see, but we were going to get the beast running again. It only had one broken coil and a fractured cylinder. When I opened the door, my heart sank.
Now, there are 6 broken coil segments and 14 fractured cylinders. I’m trying to keep hope alive and not be discouraged. No matter what happens I have many reasons to be thankful and maybe I can bake biscuits in this thing?
A bit of a setback, but I still plan to talk with the manufacturer and perhaps there will be a way to repair it without costing too much. The same kiln, brand new, costs €5.500,00 (or $7,311 USD).

A bleak picture when I opened the door, thanks to this fine stone shelf. Hopefully, it can still be repaired.
