Dave, Rachel & Sofia byers

After nearly four years of raising support for our move to Germany, we arrived in Cologne on March 27, 2007.

For the last two years we have been actively learning the German language and doing our best to transition into a new culture and way of life. We had a little girl too!

We came with the belief that in our obedience and willingness to be used by God, He would lead us to the places where His love is needed most.  What we have discovered is that WE need Him most, and what He wants to do in us is equally important to Him as what He can do through us.  We are trying to remember that each day.

Dave is the artisan (potter, photographer, painter) and Rachel, the dancer and singer.  Where the rawness and brokenness of our humanity and the hope and love of Jesus Christ intersect, is where we inescapably find ourselves.

All art is subversive.  It flies under the radar and carries each culture along its creative chords.  Whether is was cave paintings and banging sticks together or the Hermitage and Russian polka, every culture is influenced by its art.

We are right-brained people and don’t like vision statements... but to put our purpose simply,

To love God and love others.

To create from our joy and passions, to influence and to make disciples.
